Conferences are most closely associated with businesses – corporate or otherwise, politics, sports bodies and other groups that consist of individual members or delegates with a common interest or goal, and who are required to discuss, problem solve, plan, forecast, negotiate and reach agreements or consensus on items contained in the conference’s predetermined agenda.

Because some conference venues take a fairly uniform view of conferences per se, such premises were built to house relatively stock-standard venues, almost taking a somewhat flexible “one size or type fits all” approach to the venues they offer for hire.

Unique Features and Ranges of Venues at Thaba Eco Hotel

This is not so at Thaba Eco Hotel, where we provide an entire range of conference venues – each one distinctive in its own right. The differences extend beyond size and seating plans, although we do offer those options too, where appropriate to the proposed venue and number of delegates to be accommodated. We can accommodate group sizes ranging from 4 to 450 delegates. Our range of conference venues suits other events too, among them team building, training sessions, strategic planning, workshops, seminars, product launches, year-end functions, award evenings and, almost any other similar group gathering.

Thaba Eco Hotel is located in the Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve, less than half an hour’s travel by road from the buzz of busy Johannesburg’s city centre, yet seemingly a world away, immersed in the peace, tranquillity and romance of the Highveld bush terrain, nestled in a valley surrounded by quartzite-topped mountains. Our entire operation is purposely designed to adhere to the most effective and efficient environmental practices currently known, and this applies equally to everything from the minutest detail to major initiatives. We offer uncompromising standards of luxury that operate hand in hand with a clean, clear environmentally friendly conscience.

Additional attractions, including mountain biking, walking trails, an on-site spa, diverse activities in and around Johannesburg, and in the not-too-distant future, on-site game and nature drives in the reserve, which we are currently restocking with game animals – zebra, wildebeest, springbok, blesbok and impala. Luxurious accommodation and excellent dining for delegates who are required or choose to stay overnight or for even longer periods.

Conference Packages

For your convenience and ease of purpose, we also offer several conference packages. However, we’ll gladly supply additional elements upon request.

Our range of packages includes:

  • Full-day conference
  • Half-day conference, inclusive of a delicious lunch
  • Half-day conference, lunch excluded
  • 24-hour conference


The full-day option includes tea, coffee, fruit juices, a fruit platter and pastries upon your delegates’ arrival, mid- morning tea/coffee break accompanied by light snacks, a 3-course lunch, and afternoon tea and coffee. Duration appropriate exclusions apply to half-day meetings.

Our 24-hour conference package also includes a fine 3-course dinner at our renowned Kraal Restaurant, plus a hot and cold buffet breakfast the next morning.

Thaba Eco Hotel is well-known as a romantic destination, so it’s no wonder that our church, wedding venues and packages are also hot favourites, but that’s not the limit of the events that are held here.
