Celebrate Women's Day with Gourmet Picnic at Kraal Restaurant

This Women’s Day, Thaba Eco Hotel invites you to celebrate the extraordinary women in your life with an unforgettable experience at Kraal Restaurant, nestled within Johannesburg’s southern eco belt. Known for its natural beauty and warm hospitality, Kraal is the perfect destination for a meaningful gathering — where every detail speaks of elegance, flavour, and connection.

An Afternoon of Effortless Luxury

On Saturday, 9 August 2025, we’re honouring Women’s Day with a curated Golden Picnic Basket experience. Designed for groups of four to six guests, each basket is brimming with seasonal produce, artisan fare, and handcrafted treats — perfect for sharing alfresco-style under the African sky in the Kraal Gardens.

From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is set with a chilled glass of bubbly, a live DJ, and plenty of Insta-worthy moments, all in the tranquil surrounds of Thaba Eco Hotel.

What’s in the Golden Picnic Basket?

Every Golden Picnic Basket is carefully curated to delight the senses and offer a full, leisurely dining experience in nature. Here’s what you can expect:
  • A Toast to Begin: A complimentary glass of bubbly on arrival
  • Fresh & Fruity: white and green grapes, chocolate-dipped strawberries and dried mixed fruit
  • Cured & Crafted: Salami, pastrami, prosciutto, biltong and drywors
  • Cheeses & Condiments: brie and blue rock, Indezi cheese selection with preserves, snack-time biscuits, basil and peppadew pesto dips, marinated olives and Greek feta, baby dill cucumbers and grilled halloumi salad.
  • Savoury Highlights: bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese, parmesan-crusted chicken strips, BBQ-basted chicken wings, crisp chicken rissoles and lamb pinwheels.
  • Sweet Endings: cashew brownies, Ferrero Rocher and stroopwafels.

R1,400 per basket, designed to delight groups of four to six. Vegetarian alternatives available by prior arrangement. (T&C’s Apply)

Sip & Celebrate in Style

In addition to your Golden Picnic Basket experience, guests are invited to explore a variety of specialty beverage stations, thoughtfully set up for those who’d like to personalise the day with a favourite pour or celebratory sip. These curated drinks are not included in the basket price and will be available at menu or listed pricing.
