We had a lovely stay at this beautiful hotel and would like to thank the team for making us feel so welcome during our visit.
The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, and the Superior King Suite we booked was beautifully decorated, spacious and exceptionally clean. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the reception team, restaurant staff and other members of the team, who were friendly, welcoming and attentive throughout our stay.
There was, however, one issue that unfortunately left us feeling a bit disappointed. We specifically booked the Superior King Suite from 28/09/26 via Booking.com because the room description stated that it included a sofa bed. However, when we arrived, the room had a sofa but not a sofa bed. This was particularly disappointing as having a sofa bed was an important reason why we chose and paid for this particular room.

When we raised the issue later that day, we had hoped it could be resolved quickly and amicably. Unfortunately, we did not feel that our concern was fully acknowledged or that the inconvenience was understood by management. We spent over two hours going back and forth trying to find a solution, which was understandably frustrating and took away from what should have been a relaxing and enjoyable start to our stay.
I would like to emphasise that our disappointment is not with the hotel staff as a whole. Quite the opposite, we encountered many lovely, friendly and helpful members of staff during our stay. Our concern was more about the communication and the way our particular issue was handled at management level.

I would, however, like to give special and heartfelt recognition to Thapelo, who was truly one of the highlights of our stay.
On the afternoon of our departure, 29/09/26, Thapelo collected my friend and me from our rooms in the buggy. From the moment we met him, he was absolutely lovely, warm, cheerful, friendly, professional and incredibly welcoming.
His customer service was exceptional.
He went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and valued. He took the time to drive us around the property, show us the different areas and facilities, and explain everything to us with such enthusiasm and positivity. What really stood out was the genuine pride he showed when talking about the hotel and his role within the team.
Thapelo has such a wonderful personality. His warm smile, kind manner and excellent communication skills immediately made us feel at ease. He was engaging, respectful and genuinely interested in making sure we had a positive experience.
You could tell that he truly enjoys what he does, and that genuine passion came across in the way he interacted with us. He made us feel welcome, appreciated and looked after, and his attitude was a wonderful reflection of what great hospitality should feel like.
Thapelo is an absolute credit to the hotel. His customer service is outstanding, and I sincerely hope management recognises just how valuable he is to the team. In my opinion, he deserves special recognition for the way he represents the hotel and looks after its guests, and certainly deserves a well-earned pay rise or some form of appreciation for his efforts.
If we return to the hotel, I would genuinely be delighted to see Thapelo again. He was such a lovely person to meet and made a lasting impression on us. We would still consider returning because the hotel itself is beautiful and has so much potential. We simply hope that management can take our feedback constructively and look at how guest concerns are communicated and resolved in the future.

Thaba hotel is a wonderful and very safe experience over all. We stayed 2 nights total which on the second night we got upgrade to King Suites. The hotel is clean, well kept with options to explore nature, hiking, nature drives, animal or bird watching or enjoy a relaxing pool time or spa treatments. There is also option to explore Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve if you want to do more hiking outside Thaba. The trails are well marked, the parking lot is guarded and plenty locals to chat on the trails and get to know best recommendations for our next stay. Loved it all very much.

The staff at the spa are highly professional and welcoming, I recommend booking early as I tried to book last minute slot without success but none of the less I have to recommend the lovely energy of the place and staff as we had a wonderful interaction.

The Nature Drive with Callan was an absolute treat for us and he has a wealth of knowledge and passion to his job which made our experience well worth the time. Do not expect big five or millions of animals, this is not a game drive. For that we hit Kruger National Park for 3 days and it was one of my favorite places I have ever been.

We loved the Kraal restaurant and ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at the premises. Selection is good but I think I would have liked to see more local variety of food on the menus. Food was fresh, delightful and tasty. We enjoyed especially the meat platter for 4 people on the first night dinner. Portions are hearty and big in general. Staff are attentive, professional and very friendly. I want to especially thank Thando at the front desk, she is truly a gem of a person, warm, friendly and professional welcoming and taking time with every guest to ensure best experience. Absolutely Amazing! ❤️⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This place truly feels like a little piece of heaven on earth. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed, cared for and completely at home.

Everything about our stay was exceptional. The food was absolutely superb, the rooms were luxurious and comfortable, and the staff were genuinely wonderful. Their warmth, kindness and professionalism made such a lasting impression on us. They went above and beyond in every possible way, always with a smile and never making us feel like anything was too much trouble.

What touched me most was the incredible care and assistance given to disabled guests. I have never experienced this level of genuine compassion and attentiveness at any other establishment. It wasn't simply about providing assistance — it was the way the staff did it, with such dignity, patience and kindness. That meant more to us than I can put into words.

Our only complaint is that our stay was far too short! Leaving was honestly the hardest part. Two nights simply wasn't enough, and I found myself wishing we had booked much longer.

I will most definitely be back — and next time, I won't make the mistake of staying only two nights!

We had a wonderful experience at Kraal Restaurant with the family. The atmosphere was beautiful, relaxed and perfect for spending quality time together. The food was delicious, the service was friendly, and the whole setting made the visit feel special.

We celebrated our 40th Anniversary at Kraal restaurant on Saturday the 5th of September 2026. Everything was perfectly set up when we arrived at the restaurant. The buffet breakfast was delicious and the drinks served quickly and efficiently by the staff to everyone at our table. The fire in the fireplace added to the ambuance of the restaurant. Everyone had an amazing time and they complimented the venue. Thank you to the professional staff who cleared the table quickly and efficiently and to the manager who was attentive and present all the time. My husband and I booked a stay at Thaba and it was lovely.

The staff are friendly and so accommodating.

The breakfast was delicious. Such a wide variety and in a beautiful setting.

We had a garden view room. It eas gorgeous. It was very spacious, and didn't feel small at all. The bathroom was large with a beautiful bathtub. The hotel doesn't provide many amenities, so be sure to bring some of your own!

The views from the room are gorgeous. It truly is stunning. If there is one thing we would change, it would be having tinted window's. Since most of the room is glass, the curtains have to almost always be closed for privacy. Because of this, you can't enjoy the view as much as it deserves.

I had a lovely experience where we had dinner with my sisters for baby shower and the service was so excellent.  Lebogang was our waitress she recommended great drinks and was kind and friendly. Its a wonderful place with its own atmosphere.  Its in Johannesburg but feels like a far away bush camp. Their breakfast and dinner buffets were excellent.
Its actually perfect for Busisiwe as well as Romantic inventions , as well as party and wedding venue.
